that's a lot of... No, more later. Let's go back to the beginning: look at it again, bigger, zoom in (click on the image). It's magnificent! Contemplate it, longer, more intensely. Don't just glance at it; let your eye be captivated!

now, where was I? Ah, yes... Norton has been planning a comeback for a good many years now. It's been over 35 years since the Commando came out of the factory with a vengeance. For its comeback, the form and substance are in the superb vintage 961 Commando SE roadster... limited edition, expensive, with carbon and Öhlins, and above all a legendary name (the Manx, does that ring a bell?!?).

once the English brand had returned to the market, in the very nice niche of "classics", it was time to build up a range. The first stone having been laid with the resurrection of the Commando, Norton is now offering a mass-market version. Introducing the 961 Commando Sport. Very similar to the SE, it differs in a number of less noble respects. Gone are the carbon parts. But the superb Öhlins suspension remains. It's a rare and somehow fascinating experience to admire the classic look of these suspensions (standard fork, double rear shock absorber combo), yet equipped with state-of-the-art performance and technology. These modern, prestigious components are the perfect match for the roadster's authentic silhouette.

norton went to Italy for its brakes. No radial calipers, but Brembo 4-piston "gold line edition" and 320 mm discs. Wouldn't that be too much to stop this machine? The 961 Commando is a long way from slamming the lap times of a hypersports car. But for a machine costing almost €20,000, you'd expect quality peripherals. The magnificent chrome-spoke wheels are a case in point.

and then there's that engine. Can you feel the passion pulsing behind that heart-shaped crankcase? Beneath those cooling fins lies an intoxicating-sounding twin. Its 80 hp aren't the most important thing; the name, the silhouette and the existence of this motorcycle are far more important. From the Triumph Bonneville to the Thruxton to this Commando, it's clear that the beautiful English are back.

2 hours of MO to change the oil...you have to remove the catalytic converter to access the drain plug...also, a real vibrator in use...fragile, can't take short journeys, parts hard to find, like the professionals to look after it...but it's true that it leaves no connoisseur indifferent Rating : 3/5

Extraordinary motorcycle, engine, road handling, top roadster with magnificent lines
I've owned a 2016 model for 6 months now and have ridden it for 4000km since then, with no worries whatsoever... The improvements have had a lot to do with it... This bike suits my daily use and I hope to keep it for a very long time. It turns heads wherever I go and the comments of the curious are eulogistic... normal for such a beautiful bike...

change this amerloque "dress" into an old-fashioned roadster (I've seen some drawings) http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/Oberdan Bezzi/Nonton Commando 961 Classic Concept.jpg and it'll look a lot better. Rating : 2/5

aesthetically and in terms of finish, nothing to complain about.
that's top-notch.
For the "bof\", 11 months of waiting, breakdown after 400 miles ( 3 months of waiting ), second breakdown after 800 miles ( 1 month of waiting ). I pick it up and... make 10 meters before the third breakdown. The importer intervenes, certifying that the bike is fine. I go out 3 times in a week and... fourth breakdown.
Summary: I ordered it in December 2011 and received it in November 2012. Just in time for winter. Since then, over the course of a year, it has been immobilized for breakdown for 6 months. I asked for a standard exchange and then a refund. Norton uk responded a month and a half later, saying "we'll offer you a plan". Today is October 26, 2 years after my order, and I'm still waiting for the proposal. My bike ran (badly) for about two months.
A word of advice: if you want a Norton, arm yourself with patience and take all the guarantees (delivery times noted on the order form, keep and archive all e-mails and don't wait too long before reacting if you have a problem).
That said, when it's running, it's pure bliss.
