presentation of the SRT 700 SX Touring 2025

While QJ has made a name for itself as a manufacturer, in the eyes of connoisseurs, with its sporty products, for a Chinese manufacturer the brand isn't exactly renowned for its trail bikes ... CF Moto, Kove or Voge, for example, are better known to the general public for their models, which are even starting to make a name for themselves.

However, since 2023, QJ has been offering its SRT range with a 700 cm3 core model, but it's not catching on... So what to do? As is often the case with the Chinese, we start again - well, almost! Take the technical base, give it a new look and you get the SRT 700 SX Touring you're looking at today. A superbly equipped, adaptable trail bike, with prestigious equipment and a reasonable price tag.

A new look for a new life?

For the moment, the 700 has failed where others have succeeded in attracting a few customers. QJ Motor, which is distributed by SIMA in France, has therefore decided to take its technical base and give it a 100% new packaging. SIMA will also have to work to overcome an image and communication deficit, but that's another matter.

QJ Motor SRT 700 SX Touring 2025 - 1QJ Motor SRT 700 SX Touring 2025 - 1

Visually, compared to the old model, the bike is "lighter". The bodywork is less generous, especially around the front scoops. The radiator is now separate from the fuel tank, which has also been modified. The headlamp unit is also completely new. With a less road-going image, QJ wanted to breathe new identity into the SRT 700 SX - an identity reminiscent of the V-Strom 800 with its two-part vertical headlamp. The SRT's new bubble is also slightly smaller, as on the Suzuki. The small beak (false mudguard), positioned below the optics, is also smaller and sportier. Turn signals are located on the side scoops, and discreet LED lights are also positioned in the fork-head connector and turn signals.

The rear frame buckle receives a seat and its fairings are also redesigned. The bodywork once again appears less voluminous, while the seat cover gains (in appearance) in quality and stitching.

The high-mounted exhaust gives a clear view of the swingarm, whose shape and finish contribute to the machine's look. It's worth noting that it no longer accommodates the wheel-wiper-style plate holder, but has been returned to a conventional position.

Luggage, seat and heated grips included

In terms of equipment, this QJ SRT 700 SX, like CF Moto's 700 MT, offers an all-inclusive package. In other words, the "shipping and travel" package is included in the price. To make life easier, there are handguards, heated grips and seat (with 3 comfort levels), and above all aluminum luggage (suitcases and top case). All in all, 112 liters of useful capacity, including 45 liters for the top case.

Last but not least, we're always pleased to find crashbars and an engine cover as standard, even if the latter is not really worthy of the name and is a thin plate designed to conceal the oil sump and filter. It has to be said that the exhaust is a bit of a nuisance, and we'd like to see a more generous element that would really stand up to sustained off-road use.

The dashboard has been upgraded, with a larger 7-inch TFT screen providing all information in a clear and legible manner. It's Bluetooth-enabled and features integrated navigation. Two USB ports are also available on the dashboard.

70 hp, 698 cm3 twin-cylinder and 243 kg with full tanks

Technically, this 2025 version is little changed, and now complies with Euro5+ standards. Its twin-cylinder engine loses 3.5 hp, and the new model boasts 70 hp at 8,000 rpm. On paper, there's nothing to panic about: the loss is unlikely to be perceptible, especially as QJ seems to have worked on its availability, with a greater torque of 70 Nm (compared with 67 Nm) at 6,000 rpm. A 47.5 hp A2 version is still available (35 kW).

QJ Motor SRT 700 SX Touring

No engine mode; reduced electronics.

Driving this SRT 700 SX will prove simple for the rider. There are few electronics - just traction control. You ride almost the old-fashioned way, relying more on your brain than on electronics to know how to ride a motorcycle. Not bad... Don't worry, the ABS is present and controlled by a Bosch control unit.

What's more, the chassis and chassis components are made by some fine names: Marzocchi for suspension, Brembo for braking and Metzeler for tires. These are names that sound good to European motorcyclists, who will be reassured to see some of the big names in motorcycle equipment.

In detail, the suspension features an adjustable upside-down front fork and hydraulic monoshock. Front brakes are twin 320 mm discs with radial calipers. The rear disc is 260 mm. A braking system that seems copious and well thought-out for a rather heavy crew of 243 kg with full tanks.

Tires are supplied by Metzeler with the Tourance model in 110 / 19 inches in front and 150 / 17 inches in back. The 19" rim will allow you to switch to more trail/off-road rubber if you plan to put the wheels in the dirt more often.

QJ Motor SRT 700 SX Touring

No more, no less... but a Chinese premium

QJ's redesign of the SRT 700, now the SX, is quite successful. The bike is both modern and classic to the eye. A clever aesthetic gamble that appeals to the widest possible audience.

Its European equipment makes it one of the most luxurious Chinese bikes in its segment, and this is reflected in its price (€8,249), which is barely less than that of a Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT (€9,599). The QJ has more prestigious equipment, however, and comes with a luggage kit. It will need at least that to break with conventional wisdom, even if its 3-year warranty is a little short (5 years on the Suz').
