presentation of the GSF 1200 BANDIT 2003

A big, feisty roadster, the Bandit 1200 hasn't failed to impress since its arrival on the market in '96. The reputation of its copious 4-cylinder air and oil engine is well established. Of course, since then, the competition has not been idle, and the GSF needed to be updated. The factory didn't just dust it off. The entire machine was reworked to create a much more sophisticated machine.
Suzuki cultivates a family spirit, so it's not surprising to see the 12 take on the plastic of its 600 sibling. The same sleek frame design and elegant fork head on the S version; the most visible differences are the beefier swingarm, the more consequential screwed-in fork and the more compact frame.the most noticeable differences are the stronger swingarm, the more substantial bolted rather than welded-on suspension, the 6-piston brake calipers and the black-painted engine (silver on the 600). Aesthetics have gained in elegance, and handling has undergone a metamorphosis.

Suzuki GSF 1200 BANDIT 2003 - 1Suzuki GSF 1200 BANDIT 2003 - 1

with new geometry and suspension, the Bandit handles more easily, resists less and improves in comfort. Once dark and temperamental, the 12 has bought itself a ride. The ride is now confident and consistent, in stark contrast to the slightly rebellious, patient side that made the Bandit's sultry reputation - its name was so apt. A real plus for the bike, but thrill-seekers who loved its wild side will be sad to see it soften. Even the mill has changed its face. The engine-makers have revisited it to give it less chaotic curves. The power is there, more civilized, more controllable but less sensational. The 12 is all the more efficient, while remaining pleasant to ride. Suz tradition, braking is powerful but still lacks bite. The tight pricing policy remains one of the keys to the Bandit's success. Those who want the mechanics but are more tempted by a more retro look can also take a close look at the GSX 1200.

FAMEUX B12
French REMS Model 2001
I like this bike, I'm keeping mine, it's a 2001 S version, I've had it for several years, I've become attached to it in fact only because I've modified it quite copiously, rather in a GT sport spirit. In bulk: emc amorto, full fairing, adjustable handlebars, big brembo P4 2x34 front calipers, 19" semi-radial master cylinder, delke all-wheel drive, matching carburetor and air filter, exclusive use of sport gommard (especially mk3), etc. etc... Originally, the b12 was a nice bike, a little clumsy and relatively wise in phase 2. The result after modifications is a good, honest tourer with an engine that breathes well. On the other hand, it's still not a killer when it comes to technical sequences; it's only really good when the road opens up a little, i.e. nice, fast, even tight curves, but not hairpins and little corners every 10 metres, like in Corsica or the Cevennes. It's effective exactly where it's dangerous for your driving license. It's stupid... but a b12 is like that. It's a good big gas guzzler, smooth and torquey, reliable, trouble-free except for possible oil consumption, quite comfortable, easy to maintain at home, not expensive. When you use it for all these qualities, it gives you satisfaction. But if you want to handle it really fast on tight turns, then its age, vocation and inertia are not an asset. In short, it's exactly like many of this generation's big cubes, even though the wheelbase on this Suzuki is a real 1445, so it's rather short and agile. In short, I think it's a great bike for long-distance touring, AND after modifications. Rating : 4/5

Motorcycle I bought new at the time، the N model in 2004 after a Freewind and a Zr7s، 2 very good bikes especially the gromono. I was enchanted by the B12, which I equipped to make an easy tourer with just a modestly sized windscreen from the scoops and casing guards, a real rocket on the (German?) freeway with impressive averages in good comfort and excellent roadholding. Up to the 160-meter mark, fuel consumption is limited to less than 7l/100 km, and by exploiting the torque, which is very much present on this motorcycle, you can average 6.5l/100 km on mixed journeys, and reach or even exceed a range of 300kms. On the road, handling is good, as is comfort, whether you're riding alone or with a partner. It's not a touring bike either; I had a much more suitable zx6r. I've owned a lot of motorcycles, and this one, the N model in particular, was just what I needed. I parted company with it after 4 and a half years, believing that it wasn't roadworthy enough for my purposes. Today, I ride an old Vfr that's still too roadworthy for my daily life, alternating with a small-displacement crf250L. Rating : 5/5

I've been looking to buy a suzuki 1200 bandit S model 2004. Yes, the engine is good, but all the same, progress in terms of safety over the last 20 years has been significant, and with this old generation, you certainly have a good engine, original of course, but no assistance or electronic help, and therefore a motorcycle that is unusable on our beautiful roads. My dealer had warned me, and indeed I find this bike too powerful, what's more, it's not even equipped with an abs. I had to sell it, because I think these bikes can be dangerous, especially if you ride on wet ground. Fortunately, I was subsequently able to buy a Tiger, which is much safer and has real modern handling thanks to its power-assist modes. Otherwise, the Bandit 1200 is very heavy. On the positive side, over two years and 4,500 kilometers, it's been reliable, which is respectable for an old bike that had over 35,000 km (when I bought it). It's still a pretty good memory, but this bike is no longer up to standard, especially with the technical inspection coming up, so watch out for safety! Rating : 3/5

Frankly, I don't agree with you, this bike has seen generations of motorcyclists ride it, and no, it's not dangerous! you seem to suffer from motorcycle phobias, from those who are afraid of everything... I've owned 2 1200 Bandir from 2001, I've never had ABS on any of my bikes (and I certainly don't want it!), I've never had any electronic assistance, and I'm no worse off for it. If you don't feel brave enough or have the guts to get on a real bike, forget it, it's not for you! All you have to do is complain that you might get wet while riding... Rating : 5/5

are you serious? hahaha no the b12 is a great bike, old today for sure but that's precisely what's good, it's a generation that has its charm. Once I'd sorted out the front brake problems, I personally put different calipers on it, and with a little upgrading it makes a good, reliable, easy-to-maintain tourer. I agree 100% with lupushomnini. Rating : 5/5

After my first bike, 1 Suzuki 650 Freewind (mono), I've had 3 Bandit 1200S, 2 Kawa 1100 ZRX, 1 Honda CBF 1000, 1 Bandit 65O injection, 6 Bandit 1250, 1 Yamaha 1000 FZS, 1 Suzuki GSXF 750,... For me, the best is the Bandit 1250. Rating : 5/5
French lupushomini Model 2002
i've owned nearly 10 bikes, and this one is by far the best, in terms of comfort (including for the passenger), power (lots of torque, and what an extension!), reliability, ridiculous fuel consumption for a 1200cc on long trips at legal speed (I'm down to 4.8L/100kms)..
The only downsides... lighting that I find a little lacking at night, braking that lacks bite (quite useful in the rain) and if you don't change the original muffler, it makes almost no noise..

You can customize it with everything you need, at very low cost (top case support, panniers, heated grips, comfort saddle, etc.)
Surely one of the best bikes from suz, a man's bike (heavy but extremely maneuverable)... a true indestructible myth!

i've been teasing her for 3 years and this is the third year she's given me access to the 6000 rpm zone. Very pleasant and fleshy when needed, comfortable seat, good road holding and above all, pleasant and supple gears. Versatile bike if you know what you're talking about ... who's the boss ... I've tried and tried ... it's always her ... I regretfully sold her for 67,000 km Rating : 4/5
French Nounours Model 2001
I've just bought a 2002 1200 as my 2nd bike, my 1st Suz. I'm blown away by its power, even after a week I still haven't managed to get it past 9,000 revs, and there's still 2,000 to go before the red zone. Okay, it's not a balerine, but it's more of a roadster than a sports car. If you want to play in the twisties, you'll have to go for another bike, and you'll quickly realize that the chassis isn't made for that, and it's better as a duo than solo for attacking. I've changed the handlebars, the indicators for LEDs, the seat and removed the brand stickers to give it a facelift, and next year I'll make it into an angry café racer. Personally, I love it! French Pascal M Model 2004
I bought my B12 S new in June 2004; today it has 168,280 km. I've just given it an almost new exhaust system, since the manifold has 30,000 km and the silencer is new. Carburetor refurbishment kit at 128,000 km; valve timing done at 111,500 km, oil cooler at 76,000 km and optical block at 55,000 km. I've also changed the coils and front discs, otherwise the clutch is original and doesn't consume oil between oil changes, which I've done at 8,000 km instead of 6,000 km. The B12 is really reliable and long-lasting. However, the valves play every 25,000 to 30,000 km.
I'm thinking of going to 200,000 km. Pascal.

French Vachezbouve
The engine is torquey, even very torquey, the B12 makes you feel that at the slightest request the spirited horse will gallop away
Apart from this metaphor, fuel consumption is reasonable at 270 km on a full tank on the freeway and 200 km in town
The weight is quite heavy to handle with the engine off
Well, having had a 1997 1200, this one has mellowed out a bit, but is still pleasant in every way - in short, a timeless, versatile bike.

Hello, I bought my 1200 bandit 2002 S a year ago, in great condition, a very reliable bike, reassuring, torquey and powerful enough for our "80kh" rides. yes, I'm 52, no longer as feisty as I was when I was 20, but for weekends for 2, one or more days, it's the best for a bike of its age \"55,000km, and each time I set off it's a real pleasure to straddle my 100 horses \"only" for my part I sincerely recommend this bike, thank you Suzuki. bis to all 2-wheelers, even the 50s LOL Rating : 4/5

It's a superb, relatively torquey machine, but admittedly a little less torquey than the Phase 1.
The machine has 31,000 km, the only small problem is its oil consumption. Around 300 ml of oil for 900 km. "Â En mixteÂ
Otherwise, what a pleasure.

Bjr, I acquired a 2002 12 bandit and it's a real slug at low revs, compared to the 1999 12 bandit I had!
Explanation: old torque 12.5 mkg at 4500 rpm, and the new bandit since 2000 makes 9.5 mkg at 6500 rpm. Conclusion: they removed half the torque by changing the camshafts. I'm going to replace them with the old ones.

That's it, I've fitted the camshafts from the Bandit phase 1 and its carb ramp,
As a result, I no longer have a slug, but a thunderbolt, just like back in the day! lol get your tools!
I also changed the intake pipes because of the different position of the carbs and modified the oval sleeves of the old phase 1 air filter. In short, a lot of work, but what a blast!

I've got a 2004 model, fuel consumption under 7L/100, beware of a clogged air filter and properly adjusted synchro, otherwise over-consumption is guaranteed.

Eats oil, don't like 100% synthetic oil, rocker cover screw seals can leak.

On the road, there's nothing to say, but in sportier driving, its chassis can lead to some uncertainty about its trajectory.

very sturdy, and pretty in midnight blue.

I also put thicker oil in the fork.

I've had a B12S for almost a year, I read above that the top speed was like 240, but the other day on a straight country road with no one around, I passed 5° at 250Km/h so I don't dare imagine how fast it goes at the bottom of 5 waaa..and my tank isn't 20 liters but rather 17/18 I think! After all, it's an old lady with 74,000 km, but there aren't many models that can keep up with it in terms of comfort and power.
In short, a great bike for me ;-)

i just got off a full-power zx7r and wanted a big roadster to take the pressure off my wrists and keep a minimum of torque. So I opted for a 2003 B12. I have to admit that the chassis isn't bad, the bike sits well and is reassuring. on the other hand, I was expecting a more nervous machine, and this is a huge disappointment. The engine is so polished that it's boring, I had more feeling with my 750, so I'm going to sell it and get a zrx. It's a shame it hasn't kept its temperament. Rating : 3/5

Motorcycles have anti-start devices, and depending on the model, you need a coded key to start it.
I wouldn't give you any more advice because there's no guarantee that the bike is yours (theft).

I'd like to point out that the 1200 bandit was redesigned in 2000 (then in 2005), and it's indeed this model that I had in its naked version, but which I equipped most of the time as a tourer (with medium frosted windscreen, scoops, generous quarter guards, support/top-case). In this configuration, the bike not only looked good, but was also extremely efficient, even as a long-distance tourer, alone or in pairs, like a real GT... except that the weight was much less, and the agility and sportiness much more obvious. A complete motorcycle, then, with a very sound chassis and a pleasantly reliable engine, smoothness and power at all levels, and low fuel consumption in an effective range of use (with a small windscreen, mixed use rolled up and cruising at less than 165km/h on freeways), averaging less than 6.5l/100kms. A motorcycle that makes you want to go far every day, but watch the speedometer, because the needle can fly away very quickly, and so can the scenery. Fortunately, the engine is so accommodating that you can easily control your speed, and is a benchmark for many motorcyclists. An excellent motorcycle, for me the best of the B12s. Rating : 5/5
