presentation of the RM-Z 250 2015
the Suzuki RM-Z 250 features an optimized chassis and high-performance suspension, including the Showa SFF fork with separate damping functions in the left (hydraulic) and right (spring) arms. With reduced friction levels, improved absorption qualities and reduced weight, the Showa SFF ensures exceptional performance over a wide variety of terrains.
the RM-Z 250's engine was also redesigned last year. It offers more power thanks to a new piston-ring assembly and revised intake and exhaust diagrams. A crankpin ensures better lubrication and increased reliability. The result is a more torquey engine at mid-range, enabling stronger acceleration out of corners.
the RM-Z 250's cooling capacity is enhanced by an optimized radiator and water circuit. This helps maintain a constant level of power, even in extremely demanding conditions.
finally, the RM-Z 250 has received a new 5-speed gearbox with revised gear spacing and a selection mechanism offering greater smoothness.
key features :
1. The 249 cm3, 4-stroke, fuel-injected, double ACT, fuel-injected engine, designed for greater compactness and lightness, makes the RM-Z 250 ready to win championships.
2. Drawing on the experience of factory Grand Prix machines, the piston, piston pin and connecting rod are developed using the Finite Element Method (FEM).
3. The advanced fuel injection system uses a 44 mm injector body with progressive throttle control and a 16-bit ECU.
4. The fuel injection system uses a unique capacitor-assisted starting system, and is powered after start-up by a robust, lightweight charging system.
5. The electrochemically-treated aluminum cylinder (SCEM) is designed for durability, lightness and optimized heat transfer.
6. Modified gear ratios provide smoother gear changes. The pinion arrangement makes gear shifting quicker and more precise.
7. The Showa Separate Function Fork (SFF type 2) divides the functions on each fork arm. The right-hand fork features two springs, while the left-hand fork incorporates the cartridge for optimum hydraulic control. The result is reduced friction, improved absorption and weight savings.
8. The fork is fully adjustable in terms of compression, preload and rebound damping, offering a wide range of settings.
9. The chassis design includes clever details such as footrest plates shaped to prevent mud accumulation.
10. Excel aluminum wheels and racing-inspired brake discs are fitted as standard
11. Large-diameter Renthal Fatbar handlebars are fitted as standard. More rigid, they transmit less vibration than straight aluminum handlebars.
12. The two-tone seat cover, with its cross-shaped relief on the upper surface, provides extra grip.
13. Two plugs for adjusting the injection to suit the terrain and weather are included. One enriches the air/fuel mixture, while the other depletes it. They are added to the standard plug mounted on the motorcycle. The rider can quickly change the plugs to adapt to changing conditions for optimum
conditions.
14. A maintenance cap for the fuel pump and a fuel hose plug are supplied to facilitate servicing when the fuel tank is removed. These protections prevent debris from entering the circuit.
15. The exhaust silencer uses conventional screws instead of rivets for quick and easy replacement of the silencer fiber.
16. The FI indicator (optional accessory: 36380-28H00) functions as an hour meter, to indicate the operating time.
