presentation of the KX 250 F 2015
The KX's mission statement hasn't changed since the brand was launched over 40 years ago: to lead intermediate to expert riders to victory. The KX 250 F boasts perhaps one of the finest track records in the highly competitive 2 and a half 4-stroke class, including two championship wins in 2011, and one in the 250 MX championship in 2012. In addition to its renowned engine and chassis performance, a number of cutting-edge technologies, "firsts" and tweaks for 2015, including new ergonomic settings, make this new KX 250 F model formidable.
the 2015 KX 250 F inaugurates new injectors that allow finer atomization to boost low- and mid-range power and give more precise throttle response. It also features a lighter, stronger bridge-box piston. The Separate Function Fork (SFF type 2) fitted to the 2014 KX 250 F now features new settings for adjustable preload, better front-wheel grip and smoother operation.
a new, oversized petal brake disc enhances braking power. Braking is further enhanced by a pushrod front brake master cylinder and high-friction brake pads. All this ensures powerful, perfectly proportioned braking, especially at the start of the deceleration phase. The many ergonomic settings offered by the KX 250 F allow every rider to adapt the machine to his or her own style and body type. The KX 250 F retains its race-typical features, such as "Launch Control" mode, easy access to three "plug and play" engine maps to suit all riding conditions, and the optional FI fuel injection calibration kit.
steve Guttride, Head of Kawasaki Motors Europe's Competition Department, has a very positive view of these new vintages, and is already anticipating a particularly green season: "We already have very good results with our KX-F riders, and the results obtained in AMA prove the capabilities of these machines. With the improvements we've made to the 2015 models, I'm sure we'll be scoring big points in the coming season, and podiums will be wearing the Lime Green color very often."
kEY FEATURES
liquid-cooled 249 cm3 4-stroke single-cylinder engine with twin injectors
The presence of two injectors, a world first on a production cross, plays a key role in the KX 250 F's excellent engine performance. Direct injection boosts power at high revs. The excellent response of the injection adds to the spirited performance of an engine designed for high efficiency. Adjustments for 2015 improve low to mid-range revs, as well as longevity.
factory preparation
The piston with internal bridge cap - first seen on a production cross with the 2010 KX 250 F - is just one of many factory-inspired features.
progressive throttle linkage
The lightweight 43 mm throttle body uses two shafts linked by a progressive linkage to enhance engine response and deliver an excellent feeling of power.
customizable cross-country ECU
The lightweight electronic control unit is specially designed to withstand the relentless rigors of cross-country racing. It contains three engine maps (plus a fourth for Launch Control mode). The optional KX FI calibration kit can be used to reprogram the parameters of all three mappings.
launch Control start-assist mode
Borrowed from factory machines, Launch Control mode increases the chances of a good start on slippery terrain, where it optimizes traction.
choice of direct injection parameters
Thanks to the direct injection couplers supplied as standard, the rider can quickly and easily select any of the three mappings (normal, difficult or easy conditions) provided in the new ECU.
narrow aluminum perimeter frame
The aluminum perimeter frame is a lightweight structure made up of forged, extruded and cast parts. Its narrowness optimizes the machine's ergonomics on the run.
nEW - Adjustable handlebars
Four positions allow you to adapt your riding position. Factory-style Renthal handlebars and grips as standard.
nEW - Adjustable footrests
A choice of two positions to adapt ergonomics to rider size and taste.
refined "racetrack" riding position
The narrow frame, minimalist cladding and flattened tank-seat line are designed for speed on the racetrack.
nEW - SFF (Separate Function Fork) Type 2
introduced on the 2011 KX 250 F, where it appeared for the first time on a commercial cross-country machine, the SFF (Separated Function front Fork) places the shock absorber in the left tube and the spring in the right. The 48 mm tubes and factory-style internal structure improve front-end grip, damping quality and riding comfort, resistance to bottoming, and braking and jump stability. On the 2015 version, new valve settings optimize damping for enhanced handling and stability at high speeds.
race-ready" front suspension
An ultra-resistant titanium coating (the only one in this class) protects the fork from abrasive wear. A self-lubricating alumite coating creates a hard, low-friction surface on the outer tube, which protects the aluminum surface and further reduces friction to promote suspension progressiveness.
new Uni-Trak rear suspension
The linkage mounted under the swingarm allows more precise suspension adjustment. Dual compression adjustment offers a wide range of possibilities. Self-lubricating alumite coating on the shock absorber reservoir improves wear resistance and shock absorber performance. On the 2015 version, new settings optimize damping for enhanced handling and stability at high speeds.
nEW - Petal disc brakes
New petal disc front and rear brakes, inspired by factory machines, deliver excellent braking performance and control, and underline the bike's premium sporty styling. The oversized φ270 mm front disc optimizes handling.
nEW - "Factory" look
Echoing the factory-style lines and graphics, black alumite1 wheels, black fork protectors and new green highlights help create a distinctive Kawasaki identity. The green alumite1 finish on the suspension adjusters and the green accents on the engine reinforce the KX 250 F's high-performance image.
