presentation of the CRF 250 R 2015
While the CRF 250 R is already a regular fixture on the world's cross-country circuits, the 2015 version takes a decisive step forward in several areas: on the engine side, it inaugurates a mapping system with three handlebar-mounted modes; on the chassis side, its new inverted oleopneumatic fork and wider front brake disc further improve handling. These are major upgrades that make the most of the machine's strengths and the rider's talents.
double-beam aluminum frame: a sure bet
you don't change a winning team! The 2015 CRF 250 R remains faithful to the 6th-generation aluminum frame that has proved its worth in MX and SX. But the chassis specialists at HRC have taken things up a notch: increased traction, enhanced grip, stability and braking at high speeds, and a lighter feel when cornering. More than ever, this frame is a benchmark in its class.
new oleopneumatic fork: divide and conquer
one of the great new features of the 2015 vintage, the Showa SFF-AIR-TAC (Separate Front Function AIR with triple air chamber) ø 49 mm fork is specially designed to meet the demands of competition. Its ingenious design separates compression and rebound functions between the two arms. The benefits: optimized reactions over bumps and improved front-end stability under braking, plus 1.3 kg less weight than the previous model.
In the rear suspension, the new Showa shock absorber spring material not only makes for greater strength, but is also lighter.
customizable engine behavior: a strategic weapon
already powerful and flexible, the 249 cm3 liquid-cooled, 4-valve Unicam single-cylinder engine is now even more powerful, thanks to the adoption of Honda's EMSB (Engine Mode Select Button).
At the touch of a button on the handlebars, you can adapt the engine's "behavior" to riding conditions and changing weather conditions in the blink of an eye. No more tedious tuning.
- Mode 1 uses standard ignition and injection curves to deliver balanced power and torque characteristics.
- Mode 2 is suitable for low-grip conditions (e.g. mud) and favors throttle control to make the most of available traction.
- Mode 3 delivers more explosive power, making it easier to get out of deep, soft sand.
You can even fine-tune Modes 2 and 3 using the parameter-setting system developed by HRC.
more powerful braking
at 260 mm in diameter, compared with 240 mm on the previous model, the new "petal" disc with double-piston caliper ensures even more effective braking at the front. At the rear, it's relayed by a 240 mm disc clamped by a single-piston caliper.
styling: priority to rider comfort
the 2015 CRF 250 R is based on the styling principles of Honda cross-country bikes: the bodywork is designed around the rider for optimum ergonomics. The radiator scoops, side covers, ultra-light saddle and fuel tank form a smooth, homogeneous whole that gives you great freedom and fluidity of movement, so you can take full advantage of your machine's liveliness and maneuverability.
