presentation of the GSX-R 1000 R Texas Edition 2019
In MotoGP, most winners take victories; some take double victories in one go. To defeat a Honda, Yamaha or Ducati is almost a feat, even for a manufacturer of Suzuki's calibre. At the GP of the Americas, Alex Rins achieved this double challenge, taking Suz to the top step of the podium. The GSX-RR showed that it could do better than be at the front.
The firm is not ungrateful; or rather, the Italian subsidiary was keen to make a gesture to commemorate this victory. A GSX-R 1000 R Texas Edition was thus created, bearing the Grand Prix machine's deco on most of its fairing and the Texas flag on its hoof. The Spanish rider appreciated the gesture and was quick to add his signature to the fork head.
A series of accessories reinforces the connection with the racetrack, such as a seat cover to simulate a single-seater seat, a smoked racing bubble and a titanium Akrapovic exhaust. Not content with providing a little extra power, it considerably lightened the Gex's silhouette and shaved 2.3 kilos off its weight.
Only one model was ever built. Unveiled on May 31 at the Mugello Italian Grand Prix, it will be on display again at the GSX-R owners' concentr', from June 21 to 23 at Zolder (Belgium). It will then head back to Italy, where fans will be able to see it again at the San Marino GP in mid-September. Then... will he head off to some collection, while Rins seems to be off to new exploits?
