presentation of the 1050 SPEED TRIPLE R 2018
at this moment, at the heart of the attack, you leave emotion aside to appreciate the work being done between your wrists and the road. Because emotion isn't a package deal on the Speed Triple R, it's the machine's policy. Keen to make the most of the potential with which Hinckley has endowed it, the Speed is more tastefully appreciated in this "premium" version. In 2016, England offered both variants (S and R) timid or marked evolutions, depending on the part of the machine concerned. The R logically benefits from everything that Triumph has been able to modify on its flagship roadster.
104 new engine components, which the brand considers to be new. More power - 140 hp, i.e. 5 units more than before, increased low- and mid-range torque, a 10% reduction in fuel consumption, an anti-dribble clutch and Ride-by-Wire technology: these are just some of the changes made to the 3-cylinder engine. Added to this are 5 riding modes (Road, Sport, Track, Rain and Rider - customizable), disconnectable ABS and traction control, plus a few design differences. The new Speed Triple features ovalized headlamps, redesigned indicators, mirrors, tank and saddles, and re-calibrated geometry for a sportier look.
Like the standard model, it features Brembo monobloc brake calipers with radial mounting on 320 mm tracks and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires. That's quite a statement!
the R version focuses primarily on improved suspension, with the noble services of Öhlins. The superior quality is immediately perceptible, and connoisseurs will appreciate the 43 mm NIX30 upside-down fork and TTX36 RSU shock absorber; fully adjustable, of course. A real plus when it comes to appreciating the Speed Triple's qualities.
but that doesn't overshadow the little goodies this "top-of-the-range" Speed is equipped with. The front mudguard and tank scoop are in carbon. Note the sabot as standard. The rear frame is painted red, a distinctive feature of the R models, and certain parts are specially finished, such as the saddles with red stitching, or the superb bridges and rear wheel cover machined from solid.a whole host of little reasons to hesitate when buying a standard or R Speed. Price is only one frontier; it all depends on what you ask of each adjacent pleasure...

The 150 hp is for the evolution that arrived in mid-2018, with a standard version and an RS version. The two Speed generations took turns during the year.

It's also missing 2 liters in the fuel tank for vacation driving. When I think that the 2004 955 had 21 liters...
A serious range of touring accessories is also lacking. Here too, the competition is doing much better. I suffered from this lack of accessories with my old 2004 Speed. It hasn't changed.
I won't go back to it. Rating : 3/5 Respond to Spidos
