presentation of the WR 250 F 2024
the WR 250 F continues to draw performance from its Motocross cousin. Its evolution since 2022 allows it to move the cursor even further upwards.
wR 250 F: faster and sharper
in the enduro world, the WR 250 F is already one of the most accessible bikes in its class. Its wide torque range makes it a bike that offers the best performance for all riders, whatever their off-road skills and experience. This technology reflects Yamaha's legendary quality and reliability.
enhanced engine performance
the WR 250 F 2022 - 2024 is equipped with a liquid-cooled, electric-start, 4-stroke engine that has been significantly enhanced by the adoption of a number of tried-and-tested features that contribute to increased power.
the cylinder head, inspired by that of the YZ 250 F, is one of the components that gives the WR 250 F far more impressive mid- and high-rpm performance, for even faster times in the field. The engine's forward-facing intake also incorporates new ducts and, together with a wider YZ 250 F-type intake port, this design offers optimized intake flow for improved combustion efficiency and increased power at all engine speeds.
the cylinder head also features a redesigned exhaust camshaft for improved low- and mid-range power. ECU parameters are designed to optimize engine ease-of-use at all speeds. For all-day comfort, the balancing system and gearshift cam have been redesigned to make gear shifting smoother and easier. The wrap-around exhaust pipe features a heat shield to prevent mishaps. The short muffler also features a more robust support.
one of the main benefits for WR 250 F riders is the Power Tuner app, which enables the engine to be tuned using a smartphone. Thanks to this innovative technology, it's easy to adjust the engine character to suit different terrain and changing surface conditions. A handlebar-mounted switch allows the rider to choose between two downloaded engine mappings to adjust power on the fly.
revamped frame rigidity
from the 2022 season onwards , the WR 250 F's lightweight aluminum double-beam frame also benefits from the latest technologies of the high-performance YZ 250 F. Benefiting from Yamaha's advanced CF casting technique, which allows the use of variable wall thicknesses, the frame offers an optimized balance of stiffness to match the engine's higher performance.
by adjusting the flex of the frame at specific locations and adapting engine mounts with adjusted stiffness, Yamaha engineers are able to create an incredibly strong chassis that offers excellent feel, giving the rider a feeling of greater connection with the track.
race-bred KYB suspension
yamaha' s high-performance KYB fork, with its speed-aware damping system, has been further enhanced since 2022, with a series of modifications that optimize the handling and riding feel. The damping parameters meet the demands of chassis rigidity, and a redesigned upper tee, bridges, footpegs and front wheel axle all contribute to the improved chassis.
the pushrod suspension has also been improved, with the KYB shock absorber benefiting from optimized damping settings to make it one of the best OE features on today's enduro models.
yZ 250 F high-performance front brake
braking power is just as important as engine power. That's why the WR 250 F is equipped with a lighter, more powerful front brake, derived from the YZ 250 F, the machine that excels in MX2 GP.
this advanced design incorporates a 30% stiffer front caliper, with larger-diameter pistons (25.4 mm) and a 270 mm front disc. The brake pads have a surface area 25% larger than the previous system, offering enhanced and extremely controllable braking performance that can save precious seconds during testing.
multifunction meter
during long, hard days of riding, the compact, lightweight speedometer communicates all the information the rider needs. In standard mode, it displays speed, clock, rev counter and two odometers; in race mode, the display shows all the information needed for enduro riding, such as average speed, stopwatch and riding functions. It also incorporates a fuel consumption indicator, as well as fuel and engine lights.
