presentation of the YZ 250 F 2025
Following on from the 450, Yamaha makes a few minor adjustments to the YZ 250 F. The exhaust system has been redesigned to reduce noise levels, in line with FIM noise regulations for 2025. In addition, the power characteristics have been refined to produce a smooth, controllable response at low revs, and linear at mid-range.
The commodo and throttle body have been redesigned to improve rider comfort and minimize the risk of pressing the wrong button when wearing gloves, while a new deco completes the Icon Blue look.
The YZ 250 F underwent a major redesign last year. It features a frame inspired by the YZ 450 F, ultra-compact bodywork, increased mid-range power and tuning functions via the Power Tuner app. The YZ 250 F is lighter, faster and easier to ride, while retaining the much-appreciated strengths of its predecessor.
Aluminum frame inspired by the YZ 450 F
The YZ 250 F is equipped with an aluminum frame that has proved its worth on the current 450. This makes for easier, lighter manoeuvrability and better feedback, enabling the rider to push his limits and make the most of the bike's powerful low- and mid-range torque.
The main improvement to the frame is the repositioning of the steering column, lowered by 15 mm. This important change allows the masses to be better centralized, which improves handling and enables sharper changes of direction.
The steering column is also thinner and lighter, helping to reduce the weight of the 250. To match the 2024 / 2025 model's steering column, the tank rails are also mounted much lower and feature a U-shaped profile at the rear that modifies the rigidity of the frame to achieve an ideal degree of controlled flexibility.
Thanks to its design, which lowers the center of gravity and improves shock absorption, this frame enhances the feeling of being at one with the machine, allowing you to take corners more quickly and with greater agility.
refined trim with flatter seat
The new bodywork gives the YZ-F a narrower, lighter and slimmer silhouette, making the bike easier to ride, smoother and faster. The 2024 / 2025 model features a bodywork which, like the frame, is inspired by that of the YZ 450 F. Narrower by 50 mm, it makes it easier for the rider to move his body weight forward. A seamless saddle, 6 mm narrower and much flatter, with a height difference between front and rear reduced by 15 mm on the '24 '25 model, further facilitates rider movement. The newly-designed, compact front fender promotes air flow to the radiators for improved cooling. The short, flat rear fender and slim side panels reinforce the more compact, lighter appearance of this new-generation 250 cm3 4-stroke.
rider position triangle
Subtle yet significant improvements have been made to the ergonomics of the YZ 250 F thanks to precise modifications to the geometry of the rider's position triangle. The seat is flatter and 5 mm higher, and the footrests are 5 mm lower, giving the rider 10 mm more legroom. The handlebars have been moved closer to the rider which, together with the position of the seat and footrests, improves ergonomics and handling.
optimized KYB suspension settings
KYB suspensions are considered among the best in their class and, since 2024, the internal components of the fork and rear shock have been improved to optimize the performance of the new frame. Front and rear damping settings have been revised to improve shock absorption and traction, and a hand-adjustable compression damping system at the fork allows faster and more obvious suspension adjustment. For better protection against scratches and splashes, fork protectors wrap further around the sides of the inner tubes and, for improved durability, the KYB fork is equipped with long-lip seals that prevent impurities from penetrating.
improved rear braking
The rear brake plays a key role when changing direction, entering corners and adjusting the angle of the moving machine, and the feel transmitted to the rider is essential to this control. That's why the YZ 250 F uses a reduced-stiffness rear hose that improves braking balance and gives the rider more precise control.
enhanced performance thanks to efficient airflow management and fuel injection tuning
A highly efficient airflow management system is used on the YZ250F, with air now entering the airbox via a rear-duct system like that used on the MXGP and AMA Supercross-winning YZ450F. The compact cladding incorporates ducts in the side panels, frame and tank that channel fresh air to a high-capacity round-profile air filter, with 30% greater cleaning capacity. What's more, the lower casing is now made of rubber rather than plastic, to promote air pulsation at the intake. The definition of the rear duct airflow contributes to improved performance at medium and high speeds, as well as the over-revving characteristics of the 250 cm3 inverted-head 4-stroke engine.
The ECU features updated fuel and ignition mapping, designed to optimize the performance gains achieved by the various engine modifications. Riders familiar with the old model will notice an improvement in mid- and high-speed performance which, combined with the bike's legendary low- and mid-range torque, makes the YZ 250 F an even more competitive motorcycle.
Low-friction cam chain
The 250 cc engine is renowned for its high torque at low and medium revs, and for its great controllability in a variety of conditions. These qualities have made it one of the best 4-stroke 250 cc motocross engines. Yamaha engineers set out to preserve all the positive attributes of this engine, while redoubling their efforts to improve its high-speed performance. To accommodate this, the YZ 250 F benefits from a wider, more durable low-friction cam chain. The dual overhead camshaft engine also features chain sprockets and chain tensioner settings that optimize efficiency.
adjustable traction control system
The 2024 two-and-a-half features a traction control system with two levels of assistance, as well as an OFF function. Controlled by the latest Power Tuner application, this system gives the rider greater control on wet or unstable surfaces. With less loss of traction, the rider can concentrate fully on the terrain.
start control system
The YZ250F features a start control system with a "rev limit" function that can be set between 6,000 and 11,000 rpm in 500 rpm increments. This allows the rider to start at full throttle and focus fully on the holeshot. When the start control system detects that starting has taken place, the rev-limit function switches off automatically and, once 3rd gear is engaged, the start control system deactivates.
simplified Power Tuner application
Yamaha's Power Tuner application is one of the most significant developments of recent years. The brand was one of the first to offer wireless engine tuning, and the latest-generation system has been designed to be even easier.
The YZ 250 F 2024 Power Tuner app features a "quick tune" option with a scroll bar to alternate between explosive and softer mapping. This system, designed for ultra-fast trackside tuning, is the easiest and most intuitive ever used on this model.
The Power Tuner application retains the 4x4 matrix, enabling detailed mapping modifications designed for professional teams seeking optimum performance. A multi-function switch lets you toggle between two downloaded mappings in a single session.
The Power Tuner application can also be used to set the YZ250F's traction and start control parameters. The system records data lap by lap, enabling the effectiveness of different mapping settings to be evaluated. The app also includes a section dedicated to suspension, with advice and suggested settings adapted to different situations.

I have a problem with my 2017 YZF 250 motorcycle. It's been two times that I ride without problem a good part of the day and it dies when I fall and impossible to restart it.
I changed the spark plug, it was white and it did not change anything....
thank you Rating : 5/5 Respond to Goderre
for the rest it's expensive and not necessarily useful a line if you want to increase performance a little and the look counts in the 700â'¬ the line see more if you take in titanium and carbon end,
ignition in the 650â'¬ range etc etc ... Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
