presentation of the YZF-R1 1000 MotoGP Replica 2012
as it has every year since 2009, Yamaha France is offering a special, very limited edition of its R1 to celebrate the French GP. There are only 4 of them in MotoGP replica livery, and each one is unique: there's a bike for every Yamaha rider. There are two in the factory team, Ben Spies and Jorge Lorenzo. So, one R1 wears the official decal with the number 11 on its face, and the other the number 99. It's the same for the other two, except that the Tech3 deco is more nervous. The choice is yours: Crutchlow's 35 or Dovisiozo's 4.
the bike is not sold on its own. Like all exceptional machines, it comes with a package. But it's clear that the crisis has passed. Last year, MotoGP replicas were sold at the same price as standard R1s; the pack was a bonus, and Yamaha donated a cheque for 1,000 euros for the victims of the earthquake in Japan. The 2012 edition is less philanthropic...
Each model is sold for 17,699 euros, 1,700 roros more than the classic R1. But no charity cheques will be going out this year. The additional package remains identical to 2011 : a pair of YEC racing levers, a Yamaha Racing T-shirt and cap, a seat cover painted in the bike's colors, two Moto GP weekend passes to experience the French GP from the inside with the Yam riders, 'wild card' access to the French GP days, and a special 'charity' offer.s 'wild card' access to the brand's track days, enabling riders to take to the track with Yam instructors, a certificate of authenticity, and a specific authentication plate affixed to the frame.
each owner will receive his or her bike from his or her designated rider on Saturday, May 19, 2012, the day before the Grand Prix in Le Mans. To reserve your bike, visit the Yamaha France website at http://www2.yamaha-motor.fr/2012/gp-france/replica/.
in 2012, the R1 will be equipped with TCS traction control. Its traction control uses speed sensors located on the front and rear wheels. When the rear wheel begins to spin, the control unit modifies fuel injection, throttle opening and ignition to calm the beast. The system can be set to six positions, plus, for the brave, an off mode. With its three on-board maps, the 2012 R1 offers riders twenty-one electronic tuning configurations. With the added decoration, 4 lucky owners will have a strong M1 flavour in the garage.
