presentation of the XJR 1300 RACER 2015
With its crooked look and its submission to a most remarkable preparation, the"Eau rouge" concept had provoked astonishment in the community. How could an XJR 1300 become so full-bodied? It was a long way from transposing this singularity to the series... Yamaha takes that leap with the XJR 1300 Racer. The Yard Built philosophy overflows its creativity on the evolutions of the Iwata brand.
how many years has it been since the XJR represented the archetypal old-school roadster, the wise and powerful fat cat with its contemplative, crackling 4-cylinder? No matter. It bristles in 2015, and gets twitchy in its Racer phase. The machine smells of a sweatshop, of chills in the night and black jacket challenges. Not Hallyday, not Offspring, but Beatles revisited by an obscure, fervent metal band.
this XJR Racer benefits from the my15 improvements and "radicalizations" of the eponymous roadster. Then, to make a machine with character, we dip it in café-racer sauce. It bubbles, it takes shape, and it becomes endocrine with carbon. The result is a sporty, villainous machine. The simple addition of a carbon fiber fork head, with a style far more elaborate than a simple windscreen, sets the tone. As befits a bike with a handlebar, the rider will find himself more compact at the front. The touring spirit is eclipsed, opening the way to a distillation of adrenalin.
Yes, well, take it easy. This isn't an R6 at all. Don't get us wrong, it's all in the style and spirit. The perforated, topstitched, single-seater seat, finished off with a carbon hood, is a case in point. An extra layer of style is added to the front mudguard, held in place by aluminum plates.
as on the standard XJR 1300, there are flattering extras like aluminum side plates, Öhlins amortos, red-painted spark plug caps, and that big air-cooled 4-leg. Rated at 98 hp, it is housed in a classic double-cradle tubular steel frame. The XJR's 240 kilos (approx.) will appease those excited by bleeding attacks.
As with any stylish machine, the XJR 1300 Racer is only as impressive as its catalog options. From the most essential to the most anecdotal, these include the Akrapovic exhaust system, handlebar-mounted mirror kit, Rizoma parts, LED indicators, sport bubble, etc...
