Buying a Yamaha MT-01 is not a reasoned or orthodox choice. It's a thrill, a flash of passion, a mood swing that translates into a violence of sensations. Embedding a wrestler's body in a BMX frame was a daring move. A mix of genres to send your adrenal glands into a frenzy.

the MT-01 surprises in both action and style. We might as well push the envelope a little further, make it more provocative, and turn it into one of the most striking café-racers around. Presented as a Concept at the 2015 Paris Motor Show, here is the MT-0S in (limited) production. A beast of strength that's not about finesse, but about jaw-dropping power.
A little sporty, but not too much. To become the MT-0S, the 01 gains a fork head with a rather massive design, inspiring more of a military offensive than a smooth trajectory. The front end has been radically altered, lengthening it without softening its rugged look. The stern suffers little, confident in its seductiveness with its LED light escorted by menacing exhausts.
A café-racer has to be ridden, and that means a more radical riding position. To this end, new bridges allow you to lower the handlebars and train your arms in the pursuit of sport. On this MT, the rear-view mirrors are mounted on the fairing, the fuel tank gets a special cover, and the handlebar ends are made of aluminum. A graft that takes well, and Yam succeeds in lowering the price below that of the standard MT-01. A question of vintage, as the MT-0S is based on the my2016 MT-01s.

a subtlety that will be forgotten as soon as the enormous 1670 cm3 twin is launched. As powerful as a custom engine (which it is) and with the torque of a truck, the MT-01's engine doesn't try to get too revved up to deliver its exhilaration. It gives its all in the low and mid-range, pulling the crew into a batch of sensations. Direct, straightforward, endearing slaps in the face, as only an "offbeat" bike can offer.

200 units are planned for this intriguing and attractive MT-0S. A big heart for a big heart; otherwise, it'll be hard to grasp the philosophy behind this machine.
