from 2016 to 2026Tracer - The MT-07 falls in love with the road.
The 900 Tracer paved the way for a new type of Yamaha motorcycle: the crossover. Opened... or rediscovered, as the brand had already had this kind of hybrid long before with the 850 / 900 TDM.
Yam needed something to counter the 650 Versys and 650 V-Strom. The MT-07 was called in to the rescue, gaining a trail-road look and format to broaden its scope.
In 2020, the bike underwent its first major redesign, and this was also the year it changed its name to simply Tracer 7. This brand new generation adopts a sharper, sportier look inspired by its big sister, the Tracer 9. On the technical side, the evolution focuses on adapting the CP2 engine to Euro 5 standards, while retaining its 73.4 hp. Suspension is revised, with more adjustments (preload and rebound), and ergonomics are refined, notably with a new adjustable windscreen.
In mid-2025, significant improvements were made to the bike's chassis and electronics: an inverted fork and a 40 mm longer swingarm improved stability at high speeds, especially in curves. Front brake discs have been upgraded from 282 mm to 298 mm for improved feel and efficiency. The Tracer 7 is upgraded with cruise control, traction control (TCS) and a choice of riding modes as standard. The CP2 block is upgraded to Euro 5+ standard, and benefits from an A&S (anti-dribble and assisted) clutch, making downshifts smoother and the grip lighter.
Semi-automatic Y-AMT transmission arrives in 2026.
