presentation of the KX 450 F 2018
no changes to report for the Kawasaki KX 450 F. The big cross-country bike had already evolved well in 2016. The greens have confidence in it, and have given it some serious trump cards to play. Victory is Kawasaki's only goal in competition, and the latest thoroughbred from the KX stable reflects this state of mind with its sharp, elegant lines. The KX 450 F is equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology, while retaining the elements that have made Kawasaki a benchmark off-road brand for the past 40 years.
with 32 AMA Supercross titles to its credit - a record for all manufacturers combined - the KX family has amply earned its title of "creator of champions". In 2016, the KX 450 F saw a significant weight reduction (3.4 kilos) in both engine and chassis; it boasts the lightest chassis in its class and a total weight of 108.7 kg. As a result, the bike's precision and handling are improved, while the slimmer chassis, carrying a more powerful engine, enhances its track capabilities.
weight reduction is just one of the changes made to Kawasaki's off-road icon. The engine has been designed on the basis of technologies developed for factory riders, such as the high-performance piston with internal bridge cap first seen on the 2010 KX 450 F production model. Changes to the cylinder block, intake valves and exhaust system have taken the machine to a new level of performance.
the KX 450 F features the very latest in electronic technology, including launch control, DFI (plug-and-play) direct injection couplers and an ECU with different map settings. These features allow us to adapt to the most diverse driving conditions. With the new KX FI injection calibration kit (optional), every rider can achieve the same kind of precision in engine tuning as an official Kawasaki team. What's more, on-board ergonomics have been designed to suit everyone, with a 4-position adjustable handlebar and 2-position adjustable footrests.
the ultra-slim, lightweight chassis is complemented by a race-ready SFF-Air TAC fork, well known as the key to the KX 450 F's performance. The large-diameter tubes (49mm) accentuate the feeling of grip and rigidity, while the very low friction (thanks to the fork's aluminum and titanium composition) ensures good shock absorption. This top-of-the-range suspension makes fine-tuning easy and precise.
oversized petal-shaped discs provide great braking power, and the 270 mm-diameter front disc also offers great feel.
the KX 450 F sports a minimalist factory look. The new design includes a slimmer, reoriented radiator and a flatter seat and tank. The seat is seamless, allowing the rider to move around more easily.
the bike looks more compact thanks to a more aggressive design, but also to its factory-inspired graphics. The black fork and green highlights immediately identify the Kawasaki as the machine you're looking at.
finally, the alumite green on the fork adjusters, shock absorber and some parts of the engine adds to the KX 450 F's high-performance image. As with the choice of color, every rider knows that lime green is the only way to ride.
the KX 450 F stands proudly as a class leader with superior performance on paper and on the track. Delivering power and glory, this cross-country machine will undoubtedly add victories to the KX palmares next season, and offer its riders the most thrilling sensations of their lives.
