With this new 2025 model, we're witnessing an evolution of Yamaha's Tracer 7, rather than a revolution... Revised frame, adjustable fork, longer swingarm, subtle aesthetic and ergonomic modifications, improved electronics, Yamaha didn't want to revolutionize a machine that's a hit, unlike the recipe applied for the (daring?) renewal of the Tracer 9.
Still powered by the brand's famous CP2 engine, this Tracer 7 is likely to be surfing the asphalt for some time to come.
It changes almost everything..
At first glance, you'd be tempted to say it's the same bike, but while retaining the DNA of the Tracer 7, Yamaha has redesigned every element of the bike's design. In broad terms, the bike is less sleek. Take the half fairing, for example: it gains openings, sharper edges, and even scoops, as if to play an aerodynamic role. With these modifications, the bike gains in character, in relief if I dare say so.
The visual signature of the lighting system becomes an exacerbated point of identity for a contemporary motorcycle and the marketing that revolves around the model. For this 2025 version, Yamaha has emphasized this point with a new animation of the position lights when the engine starts. Too bad the rider won't be able to see it, but it'll impress his buddies, since the brand promises a unique three-dimensional effect and a high-end look. For some, that's enough to buy a motorcycle, I hear. And on that note, geeks will be delighted to learn that there's a choice of three turn signal flashes. The Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) activates the hazard lights in the event of sudden braking, and an automatic stop function turns off the indicators after 15 seconds or 150 meters of travel.

Aesthetic changes have also made the bike more practical. The new fuel tank design, for example, does not detract from the bike's seductive appeal, but extends the range to 18 liters (+1 L). For 2025, the model also gets new, more enveloping handguards, a good point for on-board comfort, with chin pads better protected from the wind or rain in winter.
The dashboard features a new 5-inch color TFT screen and smartphone connectivity that includes turn-by-turn navigation via the free Garmin StreetCross app. To improve control of all these functions, the bike is equipped with new commodos which, according to the press release, will respond better to the first nudge. Next to the display, there's now a USB-C socket for charging or connecting the phone to the TFT screen system.
Yamaha has also chosen to include a new riding position for the Tracer 7. You might be a little surprised if you jump from a 2024 (or earlier) model to the 2025 if you go to try it out. For example, the handlebar grips are now 30 mm higher and 25 mm wider on each side, and the position has been straightened. What's more, the handlebar tee has been redesigned to include a riser. The new two-piece saddle is designed to enhance rider and passenger comfort. The rider's seat can be adjusted by 20 mm without tools. The new Tracer 7 will give the impression of a more touring, less sporty machine... With this in mind, the passenger seat has also been improved, with 40 mm more space. The passenger grips have been redesigned.

New suspension, new chassis: enhanced qualities
The 2025 model retains the familiar Tracer 7 structure. The steel frame is still there, but has undergone a number of modifications to increase lateral, longitudinal and torsional rigidity. In the same vein, the new swingarm has been lengthened by 40 mm and optimized for greater rigidity. The new 41 mm inverted fork offers 18 levels of rebound adjustment only. At the rear, a link-mounted shock absorber offers adjustable preload. In this way, the Tracer 7's qualities should be sublimated. With increased rigidity, the bike's mechanical qualities become sportier.
Braking has evolved slightly, with new calipers designed to resist heavy braking, even with a loaded bike. Tires are Michelin Pilot Road 6 GT for this 2025 edition.
At the heart of this chassis is the CP2 690 cm3 engine, with its famous 270° timing that gives it character and spirit. Now Euro5+ approved. Values remain unchanged, with maximum power of 54.0 kW (73.4 hp) at 8,750 rpm and maximum torque of 68.0 Nm at 6,500 rpm. For 2025, an assisted anti-dribble clutch (A&S) completes the engine/transmission relationship. This equipment reduces the pressure on the clutch lever to shift gears by 22%. This new feature also manages residual torque on the rear wheel, avoiding excessive engine braking during downshifts.
For 2025, the TRACER 7 is also equipped with Y-CCT (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle), and YRC (Yamaha Ride Control). The former provides finer throttle control (electronic throttle), while the latter offers 3 riding modes to suit your mood.
Two modes are pre-set at the factory, Sport and Street, plus a third Custom mode that can be set by the rider via the TFT dashboard or the free MyRide app. Owners can customize this mode with three power maps and two levels of traction control. The latter can be completely deactivated. Starting this year, the Tracer 7 also comes with cruise control as standard. It can be activated from third gear and above 40 km/h. To deactivate the cruise control, simply press the button on the console, then brake, clutch or accelerate.

What does the 2025 model have to offer?
While the Tracer 7 will still be a pleasure to ride on its own, Yamaha has also chosen to improve its long-distance and duo qualities. The result is an even more effective machine at a price still contained under €10,000, at €9,999 to be precise before options. As before, the GT version is also available, with more than enough power for daily touring.

This Tracer should be a 4-cylinder, 160/170 hp MaxiTrail, with a design and line in line with the competition. If you have to copy certain things from the competition, then you do it.
You can't live in the past, but you have to adapt and rebuild in all sectors. Today, the VAMOS Trails are very good at exploiting this market, BUT they don't have enough to break their backs.
