presentation of the V 85 TT Travel 2025
When the Califonia came to an end, Guzzi almost found itself without a Grand Touring model. And since the 1200 Stelvio had fallen into oblivion a few years earlier, offering its customers a touring model risked becoming complicated.
Fortunately, the V85 TT emerged, along with a Touring version called Travel. While the engine size no longer offered the same kind of pretension as the big backpacker models, Mandello still had a different way of seeing the miles. This Trail-GT has since confirmed its place in the range, and is now keen to confirm it.
The first step is the engine upgrade received by all V85 models. And not a small one: the twin receives a variable valve timing system! This makes it more available at low and mid-range speeds, while optimizing its power at high revs. How is this achieved? With a centrifugal system that shifts the camshaft by 7° once the engine reaches 6,500 rpm. In this way, the 853 cm3 block makes the most of its 8.5 mkg, 90% of which is available from 3,500 rpm. This torque is slightly higher, claiming an additional 0.1 mkg. But it's power that shows the biggest gain. With 4 more horsepower, the V85 TT Travel can deliver 80 horsepower at 7,750 rpm.
That was the family bonus. Since its inception, the Travel has relied on other assets, such as a pair of panniers capable of holding 64.5 dm3 of luggage (37 L + 27.5 L), heated grips and saddles, and more protection. This new version features the addition of small deflectors, right next to the headlight bezels, and a redesigned windscreen. It is 22% larger than the TT's, and with the addition of small appendages, offers 50% more protection. It adjusts to 5 positions.
For several years now, the V85 TT Travel has been carrying its share of electronics. In the bag are five riding modes (Road / Sport / Rain / Off-Road / Custom), a color TFT screen, the MIA multimedia platform (interacting with the smartphone), cruise control, USB socket, ABS and traction control. For 2024, Guzzi has enhanced the last two features. By installing a 6-axis inertial platform, they become angle-sensitive, a plus for active safety. On the instrumentation side, the instrument panel has been enlarged from 4.3 to 5 inches, while its graphics have been tweaked.
Although the Travel has retained its spoked wheels, it has taken on a more road-oriented look. This is evidenced by its less sculpted tire profile, whether compared to the previous generation or to the standard TT. It's also the only trail bike in this category to be fitted with a universal joint (one of Guzzi's great traditions).
From one year to the next, from one evolution to the next, the Travel has gained larger handguards, a knob for adjusting the rear amorto preload, aluminum parts for the headlight plates and the package-holder-grips-passenger section... and lost its little additional headlights.

Controlled suspension? Not yet? A bigger fuel tank? Not yet. Radar? What else? No, the Guzzi V85 TT Travel defends the idea of touring and the open road, but with relative restraint when it comes to equipment. It leaves it to the big ladies of the range, the V100 Mandello and Stelvio, to show off their finery.
