presentation of the 850 V7 Stone Centenario 2021
This year, the V7 range has returned to a certain simplicity. Two models, one classic, theother a little more retro-modern. With the added bonus of a much livelier engine, making a mockery of the Guzzi name. They are powered by the same 850 cm3 as the V9 and V85 TT, but with less power and temperament to better suit their vocation.
Not quite two versions in 2021... Then there's the special edition Centenario. A V7 Stone that Mandello has groomed as an ambassador for its centenary. Wow... 100 years isn't bad for a small manufacturer that only sells around two thousand bikes a year in France; whose first V7 (1967) made a spectacular mark on its time; who was particularly innovative at one time, with its V8 Ottocilindri among others.
This spectacular (and never-ending) Grand Prix machine has passed on its colors to the modern V7 of the commemorations. The tank is exactly the same matte gray, here gaining the eagle emblem in gold finish. The seat shares an identical brown hue. As for the front mudguards and side panels, they pick up the pale green of the 1955 competition machine's huge fairing.
We note (regret?) a certain restraint in this evocation of past glory. Moto-Guzzi is almost chaste when it comes to decorating this special series. Nothing like the colorful festival of the V 85 Evocative Graphics. The final touch is the centenary logo on the mudguard, and the brand name embroidered in gold letters on the estuary of the saddle.
This celebratory V7 will only go on sale this year, as will the V85 and V9 Bobbers sharing this heritage. While the same engine block powers all three, it provides a herd of 65 horses on the most accessible of Guzzi bikes. The transverse V-twin smells authentic, with piston strokes in time and watts in the gimbal. Modernism is also present, with a nimble LED headlight signature, dual-channel ABS and traction control.
