presentation of the 865 BONNEVILLE SPEEDMASTER 2009

after the America version, the Bonneville gets a more "U.S." look with this Speedmaster. Sportier than the America, it benefits from shorter gear ratios, a double disc at the front and a spoked front wheel, whereas the rear wheel is solid. The engine retains the 270° timing of the America, giving it more "good vibrations" and more feel. Legs apart, feet forward and handles to reach beyond the horizon, the Triumph offers a slightly cramped but relaxed position for cruising, with only the flattering plasticity of the machine to show off. It's a pity the suspension isn't up to scratch: the rear end is dry and delivers not necessarily pleasant doses of kicks to the ... As a sporty cruiser, the Speedmaster is proud of its roadholding and invites you to attack... quickly calmed by the limited ground clearance. Braking is equally powerful and long-lasting, limiting the sweating of the rider during adrenaline rushes.

more displacement for the Speedmaster, which since 2005 has been powered by the Thruxton 's engine. 75 cm3 more for greater comfort, and still with 270° timing - the retro-sport bike's is 360°. It loses 7 horsepower and gains almost 1 mkg of torque. More charm for the British car. In 2007, timid upgrades included new rims, Slash Cut mufflers, and subtle alterations to the chain cover, fork legs and passenger footrest mounts.

since 2008, the switch to fuel injection has given the British twin a new lease of life. Power output has risen to 62 hp (its original cavalry), while torque has climbed to 7.4 mkg, an increase of over 20% since the Speedmaster's introduction in 2003. To maintain its visual appeal, the injection system is hidden behind fake carburettors. The fuel tank is almost 3 liters larger.

French twin Model 2007
with a few improvements (hyperpro fork springs, shock factory amortos, TTP cdi, irridium spark plugs, KN filter, sdb -1 tooth sprocket, america pots and handlebars/risers, Triumph comfort saddle, Spaan sissibar, etc...) one of the best touring bikes I've ever owned ...comfortable on long trips, good roadholding, adequate braking, well-balanced, much more pleasant than a Sportster 1200 of the same era (which I also had, touring-equipped)...it's just that it lacks a bit of torque at 2, loaded...(rider 1m70/60 kgs) Rating : 4/5

But why?
I'm proud to have owned over fifty motorcycles, thanks to my wife! At nearly sixty, I wanted a Harley, synonymous with the recognition of old bikers with a full life. On a trip to Paris, the Triumph dealership in Pontault Combault "RPM77" entrusted me with an America. This English block just blew me away. Following this experience, I looked for and found a Speed Master that had been involved in an accident in Belgium. Restoration and tuning revealed a super machine. Great looks, great thrust and great noise
My mates are happy to be able to ride it in the group. Love her, she'll love you back!

French Model 2009
bonjour, pas vu d'avis donc je met mon grain de sel, moi l'eu de 2009 a 20016 rien! pas un problème a signaler, démarre au quart de tour, été comme hiver, je suis un motard de toutes les saisons. suffisamment de place pour loger mes 1m86. the feet are very forward (the original advanced controls are not optional) and the must: 300 kms of autonomy with a 19-liter 5 tank. the only minor complaint is that the rear shock absorbers are a little too hard, but it's an easy bike since it was a woman who bought it for me Rating : 4/5
