presentation of the Tiger 900 GT 2022
The Triumph Tiger has new ambitions. To become THE mid-size trail bike. The one you want, the one you think of when you're interested in the field, with the right dose of seduction and superiority. A property more than a motorcycle, with a strong identity. A generation fades away, leaving the roads to a 900 calibrated for large-scale events. Although positioned as a mid-range model, the Tiger GT is more generously proportioned than its predecessor.
Redesigned in a more successful, more aggressive and more dynamic style, the Tiger exudes a more pleasing allure than the XRx. Its tighter look and the adoption of a true "duckbill" have a lot to do with it. From the bodywork to the wheels, it's a total redesign for a more conquering image.
The Tiger 900 GT is fitted with a new frame, still a tubular steel trellis, but with a new design and finished off with a bolt-on, removable aluminum rear frame. The swingarm has been redesigned, cooling improved, weight reduced by 6 kilos, ergonomics reworked and the engine enlarged.
With 88 cm3 more power, it can proudly display its 900 name, a promise of increased efficiency. There's a noticeable 10% gain in torque, while the power curve is thickened by up to 9% across the rev range. The maximum output, however, remains 95 hp. As a result, the Tiger 900 GT can be fitted with an A2 license.
With its "intermediate" rank in the 900 Tiger hierarchy, the GT is loaded with equipment to deserve its name. ABS and traction control, already present on the base version, become reactive in bends thanks to the presence of an IMU inertial unit. The TFT screen has been enlarged to a diagonal of 7 inches (17.8 cm), allowing even greater appreciation of on-board information, including the Driving Modes. There are four of these, identified as Road, Sport, Off-Road and Rain. The tech also signals its presence with cruise control, a 5-volt USB socket in a dedicated phone slot, daytime running lights and LED indicators.

A serious package, resulting in a much more enhanced road feel, 2 kilos of extra weight (194 kg dry) and substantial inflation. Triumph maintains its premium image and makes it clear.
All this is in addition to the basic equipment, which includes a two-height adjustable seat, beautifully executed Brembo Stylema brakes, 180 mm front and 170 mm rear wide-travel damping, an anti-dribble clutch and a fuel tank whose capacity has been increased to 20 liters.
The Triumph Tiger 900 GT trail bike is also more glamorous, with a less anonymous choice of colors than its entry-level sibling. More precious, it's also less democratic. Its price is close to or even similar to that of a 1050 V-strom or a 1000 Versys. This may seem exaggerated to some, but perhaps to others. Rightly or wrongly.... the debate can be further fuelled by the GT Pro version, aimed at those who want a version that's as over-equipped as a slice of butter and lard.
P.S.: This Tiger 900 GT is also available in a lowered LRH version. The suspension is reconfigured and loses travel, dropping 40 mm at the front and 19 mm at the rear. The seat height drops to 760 mm, which can also be raised to 780 mm. For the same price.
