it's not easy for the Shiver to make its case in the face of competition that has undergone a major facelift. The SL 750 has a lot going for it, but the latest evolution dates back to 2010 - the adoption of petal brake discs, a different handlebar bend, the removal of the beautiful footpegs for more conventional elements (the rear ones are ugly), redesigned tank scoops, new ergonomics and a new look.(the rear ones are ugly), redesigned tank scoops, slightly sportier ergonomics, a 5 mm lower seat and the addition of a small, racy fork to dress up the headlamp.
there aren't many 750 twin roadsters on the market. Ducati tried it with its 750 Monster... with limited success. With the 821 Monster, it's a different story. The 750 Shiver has to put forward some serious arguments to earn a place among the stars: the Suzuki 750 GSR, Triumph 675 Street Triple, MV-Agusta 675 and 800 Brutale, Yamaha MT-09 and the ubiquitous Kawasaki Z.
the 1st super-important technical criterion is the engine. In this category, it's crucial for a mill to be rich in sensations, or to have enough power to have fun while guaranteeing performance. With its compact 90° twin, the Shiver promises both. The twin features all the latest technology (dual ignition, dual ACT, multi-valve, liquid cooling, super-small footprint, super-square dimensions, half-chain/half-gear distribution), and even a throttle management control. Surprising on this type of machine when it first comes out, and certainly an appreciable plus when it comes to exploiting the engine's full potential.
Given that an SV 650 produces 76 horsepower and a Monster 796 87, you might have thought that the Shiver's 75 and a half would give you 80-85 horsepower. Not so! Aprilia defends its engine-building credentials with a superb 95 horsepower. Just think, that's almost as many watts as an old Ducati 748; and with 8.25 mkg, this hatchback has more torque than the late 749... and most 750s on the market. Here's a worthy competitor for the Z 800, especially as its chassis seems to match the claims of its engine.
modern roadster parts cycles have nothing to envy to those of hypersports. Fifteen years ago, the number of motorcycles equipped with inverted forks was barely higher than the number of points on the driver's license. As for radial brake calipers, they were only seen on GP 500s. Today, all sportbikes are fitted with this equipment, and the trend has taken hold of virtually all roadsters. The 750 Shiver belongs to this clan. Its chassis is designed to offer more than just the best: inverted forks and radial calipers (as mentioned above), tubular-section frame connected to aluminum plates, reinforced swingarm... Sounds good.
for Aprilia, the Shiver's performance had better be flawless, because the roadster's unmistakable aesthetics make our mouths water. You can tell a lot of work has gone into the design. Streamlined, with a scarab-like stare, chiselled hips and stylized rump with Doom-esque exhausts, the Shiver has not chosen to be quiet. And just as well - with an engine like this, you don't want to be.

One small black spot is the starter exposed to water, and the terminal oxidizes and blocks starting. Rating : 5/5 Respond to yop
Fuel consumption? 5.7 for me in Touring mode, yes I'm a grandpa ^^.
Small flaw though, and yes perfection doesn't exist. Lack of a fuel gauge and warnings.
It's true that it heats up a bit, especially under the lady's buttocks, but it's bearable.
She's a real looker! And the sound is just great.

Here's some new information about the starter problem on our Shiver
I think, and from what I've heard, there's often a problem with the software's ability to check that the electrical circuit is working properly
Let me explain: the software checks that all the wires are properly connected ...
There are two relays for the starter. Only the primary of the first relay is permanently "monitored", by electrical impulses, and this triggers the first relay if the impulse is too strong
This is a known software fault, but the time spent in the dealership and the warranty, especially if it's past, discourages you from trying it
Here's how the starting principle works on the Shiver
When you press the start button, a "negative" is sent via the calculo to the first (small) relay which, by sticking its secondary, controls the second (large) relay or solenoid, which in turn releases the mashed potato via its secondary to the starter
How to cut the soft system?
If you cut the control wire (-) on the primary of the first (small) relay, the "soft" will detect a fault and inform you via the dashboard
On the other hand, if you cut the (-) primary of the second relay (solenoid) by adding a push-button, you're done
That's what I did on our shiver, and to start it all you have to do is press both buttons (push-button and starter) simultaneously and release in reverse order once the engine has started
There are other shivers in the group and I'm afraid this is, or may be, a recurring problem on all Shivers, old or new

combined city-highway fuel consumption: 6.7 L.
Very nice engine, plenty of power.
Duo: does the job, even if it gets a bit hot under the seat.
handling: good, a little less so on sporty rides because the front suspension is too soft (not adjustable), but still manageable.
Noted problem: the bike sometimes stalls when disengaging the clutch during deceleration (stop at a stop sign, red light...), which can become irritating and of course nobody knows where it comes from. It's a pity, because it's great to ride (smooth v2, extra original sound with backfire on deceleration). Rating : 3/5 Respond to SHIVER
Your problem may be with your engine oil. If you didn't have your oil changed at aprilia or at least you didn't put the right oil, it could be affecting the clutch. The information comes from the aprilia dealership because I asked them after a test made on a 2012 shiver the neutral had trouble passing. And the oil change had just been done by kawa.
So it's possible that's where your problem comes from.
If I were you, I'd go to aprilia and ask them.

I really love it, a choice I don't regret, I've had it since June 2013 (2013 model) without ABS.

Finally, with so few models to choose from, I settled on the SHIVER ABS.
I like the engine, which allows me to ride on torque and to have fun at higher revs.
Overall, this bike is good, the braking is almost too violent for the weight of the bike, and it never runs out of breath.
I have 4 complaints: the lack of front-end feel, the too-small fuel tank, an engine problem that stalls when you brake hard and the tank is low, and the lack of a fuel gauge.

First of all, aesthetically, this is a really beautiful bike at a very affordable price. The black/red color scheme is a success. The overall lines are close to the Japanese style, while retaining the Italian touch (modern yet refined). The frame is superb, and let's not forget the beautiful swingarm. Then, once on the machine, I was pleasantly surprised: everything falls right into place, the position is good (although the seat is a little high in my humble opinion), the handlebars are wide but not too wide, the tank is in the right position, and there's nothing to say except that the clutch may be a little hard... Now let's see what happens if we switch on the V-twin... Huummmm... It purrs well at idle, let's see, turn the wrist... HHHHUUUUUMMMMMM ... That's got a nice ring to it! Well, now if I can just get up into the towers... AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... What a delightful noise! Is that original? "Yes, yes" says the gentleman in the pretty Aprilia shirt. And then my eyes land on the little on-board computer... It's nice to have all these things flashing and giving lots of interesting info, but it's just missing a little something, a fuel level indicator, the reserve indicator is frankly a bit undistinguished for an Italian (even if it is cheap). Another point that catches my eye: who's that "T" displayed there, Mr Aprilia? He looks at me with a little smile and gently says: "it's the cartography, basically it's the riding mode for the bike..."... I look at him... He looks at me... He says to me: "Go on, ride, then press this button and you'll see". I did as I was told, put on my helmet and off we went. From the very first turns of the wheel, you can tell this is a bike that likes to ride fast and well. The engine revs up nicely, with good torque from 4000rpm. Frankly, in T (touring) mode, it's a pleasure to ride. So I decided to try out the famous little button! Let's take a look at mode S (sport). Right away, it's a different story. The engine really kicks! Corner exits are great! The V-twin really whips like that, and it's a pleasure. One more press on the little magic button and you see a little R appear (rain), in which case the engine is ALL SOFT, all honeyed, basically in this mode you're not about to have the rear wheel hunting when it rains! So much the better, you may say, as it's safer in bad weather. Well, I didn't stay on the R for very long, so I quickly switched back to the S without hesitation! AHAHAH, I love these kicks in the... Finally I go back to the nice man in the nice shirt. He looks at me... I look at him... We look... And 3 weeks later I had mine! And for the moment, nothing to say, I'm still won over by this machine. The only thing I'm waiting for is to finish my break-in and fit the Akrapovic exhausts. For people who want a motorcycle that's full of life and never gets boring. Throw yourself at this Shiver. Rating : 4/5 Respond to bijo66
