presentation of the DS 2013
the Zero DS combines innovation and passion to set the standard for electric motorcycle versatility. Agile on land, fast on pavement, the Zero DS embodies a new form of freedom.
the new Zero DS is built on the same new platform as the 2013 Zero S. 93% more powerful, it can develop 62% more torque and offers 13% more range. Capable of covering 203 km (city) or 122 km (highway) on a single charge, the Zero DS boasts surprising range and performance. 95% charging of the ZF8.5 or ZF11.4 at CHAdeMO charging stations in one hour, or even less, thanks to an optional accessory. Equipped with Zero Motorcycles' all-new Z-Force motor and high-voltage propulsion system, the Zero DS delivers blistering acceleration, but with a smooth, seamless ride, without the need to shift gears. This sophisticated yet ingeniously simple propulsion system allows the rider to tackle difficult terrain without having to concentrate on ancillary elements such as the clutch or gear change. To maximize riding pleasure, the brushless motor is sealed for long life, and is so efficient that no mechanical cooling system is required.
equipped with a new, more robust fairing, luggage and Nissin braking system, the Zero DS also integrates mobile devices. The new two-seat saddle, slimmer frame and passenger footrests ensure greater comfort and control for both rider and passenger. Admitting a wider range of wheels, the Zero DS features new 19" front and 17" rear tires for enhanced off-road handling. The 2013 Zero DS offers a new level of personalization, as the Z-Force powertrain can be equipped with mobile devices via Bluetooth, enabling the rider to visualize a dashboard to his or her liking, with detailed information on the bike's performance, fuel consumption and fuel consumption. detailed riding information and the ability to adjust the bike's performance characteristics.
range of over 200 km / Service life of over 450,000 km
the 2013 Zero DS relies on a new type of battery and a new configuration. Not only does the ZF11.4 pack deliver autonomies in excess of 200 km, it's also designed to last the life of the motorcycle. The result of cutting-edge research and development is that each battery cell is individually controlled and constantly monitored to ensure optimum durability. The integrated charger minimizes charging time and can work in parallel with the fast charger to reduce charging times by up to 75%.
54 HP, 92 Nm....and incredibly efficient
zero Motorcycles has designed the Z-Force motor down to the last detail so that it's compact, efficient and powerful. Accelerating to its top speed of 153 km/h will take your breath away. Fully air-cooled, the engine is designed to deliver a fantastic driving experience with zero maintenance. When you slow down, the motor generates energy which is fed back into the battery to extend range.
chassis and body
aircraft-grade aluminum is used exclusively to build the Zero DS twin spar frame. both strong and light, it gives the Zero DS incredible agility on both asphalt and dirt. Designed to have a low center of gravity, the Zero DS is highly maneuverable and responsive. The fairing "tank" features an integrated storage compartment that is lockable and removable.
wheels and brakes - Powerful Nissin brakes
zero DS wheels are designed to minimize unsprung weight and reduce rotational mass. These new rims have been developed specifically for the Zero DS, and the lightweight construction includes a hub, spokes and specific brake discs. For maximum stopping power, the Zero DS is equipped with sturdy, easily adjustable brakes featuring a new Nissin system.
suspension - like a magic carpet
the Zero DS suspension has been developed by Zero Motorcycles to take advantage of the lightweight design of these bikes. Its inverse front fork is among the lightest in the industry, and features an external adjustment system for setting compression and rebound damping. A rigid "diamond" double swingarm keeps the wheel in contact with the ground, using a rear shock fully adjustable for preload and rebound.
instrument panel and controls
The instrument panel is designed by Zero Motorcycles to provide fast, accurate information on speed, load level and engine temperature. The Zero DS offers a Sport or Eco performance setting.
zero Motorcycles applications
the new Zero Motorcycles app gives you access to detailed information about your motorcycle: charging time, average power in watts per kilometer, complete charging cycles and much more. When you're stationary, the app lets you set personalized parameters for top speed, maximum torque and maximum energy regeneration under braking. While you're riding, your cell phone transforms into a personalized dashboard, providing you with detailed information about the bike in real time. Thanks to Bluetooth, the app works on iPhone and Android.
clutchless drive - Instant torque with just a little difference
featuring a clutchless direct drive system, the Zero DS is designed for rapid acceleration and maximum efficiency. Thanks to the carbon-fiber belt, friction losses are minimal.
recharge anywhere - Recharge in any standard socket
the Zero DS charging system is integrated into the motorcycle and can be plugged into any standard socket. No additional equipment is required for standard charging. For those interested in fast charging, the CHAdeMO accessory recharges the battery to 95% in just one hour.
