presentation of the RS 660 2025

Aprilia upgrades its "little" sports bike for 2025. The RS 660 is now sporting the obligatory marketing language of the front spoiler and a little more horsepower. Not enough to radically change this magnificent school sports car, which is as comfortable in everyday life as it is on the track.

It will still need these arguments to resist the arrival of a certain Yamaha R9..

Design: the mandatory spoiler

These days, if you want to claim a certain sportiness, you've got to go all out with the spoiler. The aerodynamic gain may be marginal, but it sells dreams. In this case, Aprilia, which has signed world champion Jorge Martin to its MotoGP team, wants to capitalize on its image and long-standing commitment to motor sports.

The designers have therefore integrated a front blade, positioned under the headlight, into the RS 660's beautiful lines. An appendage that has the good taste to remain more or less unobtrusive and that doesn't look like a big pie scoop! For this 2025 model, you'll also notice that the fairing sides have evolved to better dissipate heat from the engine compartment. These fairings already contributed to the aerodynamic gains of the previous model, with a double-layer structure to improve airflow around the rider.

On the control panel, Aprilia has also enlarged the color display to 5 inches. It is promised to be brighter for better legibility in everyday use. The handlebars also get new backlit controls to impress your buddies at night.

Engine: Euro5+ but no longer 5 hp

The little boiler of the RS 660 was already not lacking in talent. Its only drawback was that it did not yet meet the most stringent anti-pollution standards. Now it does. Incidentally, the vertical parallel-twin engine has been fitted with larger throttle bodies. Their diameter has been increased from 48 to 52 mm. These engine optimizations now give this sporty bike 105 hp. Aprilia retains an A2 version in its catalog.

In what used to be known as the Supersport category (with only 4-cylinder 600s), the RS 660 is taking its place against the arrival of its future major competitor, the Yamaha R9, which develops 119 hp. The Italian is looking to make itself less small than it seems ..

An even more complete APRC

Where the RS 660 has no reason to be ashamed of the competition is in the area of electronic driving assistance. The Italian manufacturer boasts an impressive array of APRC features, including a new addition this year.

Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) add Launch Control for 2025 to the package. You'll be able to get off to a flying start, aided by ride-by-wire, traction control, anti-wheeling and a quickshifter. These aids are complemented by cruise control, engine brake control and various driving modes.

The generous Brembo brakes (320 mm discs and radial-mount calipers) are naturally equipped with ABS. The latter also features a Cornering function, thanks to a six-axis inertial unit. This cutting-edge ABS analyzes no fewer than 5 parameters in real time to enhance cornering stability during hard braking, a finesse often reserved for the top category.

The accessible exception

Italian motorcycles are sometimes mistakenly thought to be expensive. Not so with the RS 660. With this Supersport, you get unbeatable value for money!

105 hp, 183 kg, an impressive level of electronic assistance and "only" 11,799 euros. Sparkling and sexy, the Aprilia gives you a banana feeling every day under the helmet, and is on a par with a Honda CBR 600 RR. If we can't help recalling the arrival of Yamaha's R9, this one will increase your budget by 1,900 euros more than your banker ... Maybe you don't always need a bigger one to enjoy life!
