presentation of the 703 RR 2025
Zontes arrived in France shortly before 2020. Like many Chinese manufacturers, it presented itself with modest machines. 125s and 310s to test the waters, without showing the public its real strike force. In his home country, Zontes has a formidable stature.
Now, the offensive begins in earnest. With a 3-cylinder mid-size engine to conquer new segments, ambitions are sharpening. The 703 F is busy discovering and even irritating the strategic trail segment, while its all-new 703 RR sportbike will build up an edgy image with adrenalin and trajectories.
It's got style!
We've said it before, we've said it again, and now we're putting the finishing touches to it: the copycat, supermarket-cart design of Chinese motorcycles is over. The 703 RR is designed to assert its own identity, to be proud of it, and it can be. With taut lines, styling effects all over the place, a fork head as sharp as Megatron's face, no-nonsense hardware and sweaty aggression, this bike seems intent on ripping through curves like meat.
A bit of Aprilia for the integrated winglets, a hint of S 1000 RR in the central air intake, a touch of R Yamaha for the fork crown and the vents on the rear hull... No big deal.
The Zontes intends to eradicate the usual criticisms before they are even voiced. Just looking at the chassis, one's opinion falls into the appreciable category. The aluminum swingarm presents itself very well. Its appearance would almost disturb an Aprilia. It whispers "Twist the handle, I'll take it in my stride".
The frame is another fine piece. Its all-aluminum design also promises high rigidity. Looking at this perimeter structure (weighing in at 12.5 kg), you'd be forgiven for thinking that a lot of horsepower could be held in there.

A reasonably powerful 3-cylinder.
Zontes has therefore opted for a trendy and particularly appreciable engine: a three-cylinder! A powertrain renowned for its punch and longevity. But don't expect it to rival the Yamaha R9, MV-Agusta F3 800 and the old Triumph 675 Daytona. Instead, the 703 RR will be up against the CFMOTO 675 SR-R and Daytona 660. Slightly chunkier than its rivals, the 699 cm3 engine produces 102 hp at 10,500 rpm. This power is likely to be reduced to 95 hp once in Europe, to make it compatible with A2 clamping. The 7.6 mkg of torque should provide more than interesting consistency at mid-range.
With this boiler in its belly, this sports car claims to be capable of approaching 260 km/h. That's a bit optimistic, isn't it?
But never mind! A new sports car with ambitions and a big mouth is always a pleasure.
Shall we go for the angle?
A promising engine, an ad hoc frame, but what about the equipment? This is also where we see the Chinese change gear. Tires? Michelin Power 6, for a very sporty road profile. Suspensions? Entrusted to Marzocchi and almost universally adjustable. Brakes? We're almost surprised not to find Brembo brakes. The brakes are J.Juan 4-piston radial calipers. Less glamorous, but Spanish calipers are generally convincing.
When it comes to electronics, the 703 RR has decided to be reasonable. There's no question of messing with the Panigales or that kind of missile. ABS, a shifter, traction control and two riding modes (Comfort and Sport) are available to make riding more enjoyable.
For life on board, there's more: USB A and C sockets, heated grips, Keyless system for keyless starting and tank opening, large 6.75-inch color TFT display, backlit controls, 4G and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS, and smartphone pairing.

A threat?
The Zontes 703 RR should and must come with a tight price tag. It will be up against machines with established reputations and challengers brandishing similar weapons. In any case, it's a sports bike that makes you want to discover it. And perhaps that's the main threat before the big offensive announced by the augurs.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 5 reviews
The chassis is well-established, well-balanced and stable at high speeds, but also maneuverable and light around town.
The engine is full on all cylinders, with no hollow points like an R6 (which requires a much more demanding ride), yet powerful at the revs.
Admittedly, it doesn't have all the rage of the 600s from 2000-2010, but for a daily and with today's repression, it's an excellent compromise.
Pleasant to ride, it can also be sporty and fun.
So, no, it won't be the first on a timed lap, but who's going to buy it just for timed laps? On the road, it has its chances, and you're sure to arrive less tired and with a smile on your face.
The retailer promises a stock of parts and fast delivery, so it remains to be seen.
In any case, it's a nice change from the aseptic look of today's Jap and EU models, it works well, it's superbly equipped and the price is normal, unlike other overpriced models.
I recommend you go and try it for yourself. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Thds
