presentation of the 675 Daytona 2012
the 2012 version of the 675 features a fine series of unspectacular alterations. Just new clutch and alternator housings with the Triumph logo embossed in relief, a touch of black paint on the brake disc frets and on the trim.the front footrest plates and rear footrest brackets are graphite-colored, the decals feature a new caligraphy, and the steering column nut is bronze-anodized... End of list. No reason to panic the world of novelties, but no reason to grumble either: the 675 Daytona is one of the most exciting track bikes on the market, and these few modifications give it a little 'plus' in perceived quality. However, it will now have to face off against the MV-Agusta F3 in the field of mechanical originality and performance. A no-holds-barred, over-exciting match is in order.
the 675 Daytona 2: Who remembers the days when England ruled the world, when there were more motorcycle brands than boats on the English Channel, when the mention of names like Sunbeam, Velocette and Norton sent a shiver down the spine?
And then came the CB 750. It took England almost 40 years to recover from the shock. But the comeback was masterly. A sword on the islands of the rising sun with a legendary name: Daytona. The 675 Daytona to be exact. A machine so formidable that it immediately upset the stars in its class... and even in the top segment. A slap in the face that Triumph intends to keep close to the cheeks of the competition. To this end, 3 years after its first appearance, the 675 Daytona has evolved. No major changes, just enough to keep it at a very high level.
apart from the new, elongated headlamps that give it a more pronounced look, a longerhead, new turn signals and a plate in front of the forced-air intake, the 675 2nd version looks very much like the first. The upgrade focused more on the technical side and less on the visual.
triumph has drawn on its experience gained in the World Supersport Championship to improve the specifications of its little bombshell. The three-cylinder engine is now capable of 450 rpm more than before, and develops 3 more horsepower for a total of 125 horsepower. It's worth noting that the machine now comes with a number of Racing kit components as standard. The little Daytona comes with a new exhaust system 2 kilos lighter, recalibrated fuel injection, modified combustion chambers, a few internal modifications and, a nice little add-on, a pre-wiring for a shifter.
The chassis has also been improved. The 41 mm inverted fork now features slow and fast compression adjustment in addition to the usual multitude. The Nissin calipers are now monobloc for greater consistency and feel. The new wheels, meanwhile, should bring more liveliness to corner changes. And they're not shod with just anything: Pirelli Diablo SPs - practically slick.
at 162 kg, the 675 Daytona fails to match (on paper) the CBR 600 weight record. However, its 125-horsepower, 3-cylinder puncheur is enough to curl its whiskers. This evolution of the British sportsbike, which was particularly gifted from the outset, will delight a large number of enthusiasts, and even more so track racers.
