presentation of the R1 1000 GYTR Pro 25th Anniversary Limited Edition 2023
When it comes to making memories, Yamaha doesn't hesitate to unleash its finest standard-bearer: the R1. In the past, it has received tributes for the 50th and 60th anniversaries of the brand's birth, and other series for its involvement in competition(R1 WGP 50 Anniversary and 60 Anniversary). It has celebrated MotoGP several times, orEndurance with GMT 94, and honored some great drivers like Agostini, Pirovano, Razgatlioglu. And let's not forget the 20th anniversary of this sporty machine with the 2019 GYTR special series.
Some time later, this year, the YZF celebrates its 25th anniversary. As a result, Yam has come up with the idea of a GYTR edition, with the same type of deco as the '19 but revisited.... and going much further in development. This bike takes its rider to the Superbike entrance, between qualifying and the start line. The "Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing" department was able to let loose from start to finish, to the point of making it a compé-client ready to suck the wheel of the world championship grinders.
On the R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary Limited Edition, it's nothing but parts worthy of the most radical consideration. Everything is designed and weighed for efficiency. You'll find carbon everywhere, for the fairing, the airbox shell, the spider surrounding the Chrome Lite I2M dashboard, the forced-air intake duct, the right-hand lever guard, the entire rear frame and lots of other compounds.
swingarm? Replaced by the WSBK swingarm! Wheels? Marchesini forged-aluminum, surrounded by Pirelli Diablo Superbike SC2 slick tires - in racing sizes: 125/70 front and 200/60 rear. Brakes? Sick stuff: the remote-adjust Brembo master cylinder drives CNC-machined P4 EVO calipers, made of aluminum with titanium pistons. These are the same as those used on bikes competing in the SBK World Championship. The discs are T-Drive models, also from Brembo. If you want something stronger, you'll have to go to MotoGP.
Suspension-wise, it's hard to beat the Öhlins FGR 400 inverted fork. A real jewel, used by the World Suberbike teams - the only difference being that there's no dedicated engineer to set them up for you. It's enough to put the most severe stresses on the R1, while still enjoying a top-level feel for the track. Those golden legs alone are worth the purchase price of an MT-09 SP.
The rear is just as formidable, controlled by a TTX36 shock absorber with pneumatic preload adjustment.
The fuel tank has been extensively modified to lower the center of gravity.
yamaha executes a fine dose of engine preparation. And it's a must, given the machine's insane price tag. This R1, like last year's Razgatlioglu Replica, must belch out 220 hp. The 4-cylinder is doped with meaner camshafts and valve springs, a racing head gasket and spark plugs, and AIS plates shunting the anti-pollution system. It's surrounded by a racing clutch from Suter, breathes through a full Akrapovic line, cools via a larger-capacity radiator and is whipped up by a Magneti-Marelli-specific ECU. On top of this, it benefits from a GPES (GYTR Pro Electronic System) module with all the engine control electronics, electronic assistants and data acquisition to make the most of its performance. Like all modern hypersports bikes, the R1 can count on traction control, anti-wheeling, launch control, engine brake management and several engine mappings, but with a much greater degree of parameterization. It's like going from magnifying glass to microscope!

this wheel is as close to a factory bike as you can get. Highly qualitative and selective, this R1 is not completely new. A series of parts were already present on the very special R1 VR46 Tribute, which Yamaha presented to Valentino Rossi on his retirement.
To develop the GYTR Pro parts featured here, Yam engineers worked closely with Superbike and World Endurance teams. The technology transfer won't even have time to cool down for those who grab the half-guides of this technical weapon.
be warned, however, that to take advantage of this razor-sharp tool, you need to be an excellent rider. Right from the start, an enlightened amateur or a good pistard will be blown away by the quality of the gear. But to really make the most of this missile, you need a lot of experience. Already, availability and price will calm everyone down. The first step is to set aside 159,000 euros in the hope of getting one. Then, keep your fingers crossed, as only 25 units will be produced, by order only and online(https://europe.yamaha-motor.eu/specialunits/reservation/r1-gytr/en). The R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary will not be produced in Japan, but assembled in one of the European GYTR Pro Shops - of which there is only one in France.
They will be delivered in the first half of 2024. Thereafter, each owner will be invited to a track day with a team of Yamaha technicians to fine-tune the machine's settings. It's a safe bet that some of these bikes will end up in private collections, and will never be able to express their raison d'être. As for the others, they will be the ultimate fantasy for their rider.

pS: This performance machine, with its many parts dedicated to competition, is not equipped with adjustable footpegs... A Yamaha oversight or else.... To be continued.
